Drying Cannabis Buds

Methods and Tips

Proper drying is a critical step in preserving the quality of cannabis buds. Here, we outline common drying methods and introduce an innovative technique that has proven particularly effective.

Common Drying Methods

Salt Drying – An Innovative Technique

A unique technique I developed utilizes salt as a moisture absorber. Here’s how it works:

  1. The harvested buds are placed in a sealed container.
  2. Several salt packets, with small holes in their packaging, are added to the container.
  3. The salt absorbs moisture from the buds through the perforations.
  4. The salt is replaced daily, as it becomes saturated with moisture within 24 hours.

The physical process behind this method relies on the hygroscopic properties of salt. Salt attracts water from its surroundings and binds it within its structure. Historically, this effect was used to preserve foods like meat and fish by removing moisture and inhibiting microbial growth.

Advantages of Salt Drying

With salt drying, you achieve a high-quality end product characterized by excellent preservation and durability.
